Character Texturing

I've made a few passes of the Diffuse for my character using Projection Master in ZBrush along with some hand painting in Photoshop.. I think I need to add more colour tones to areas like his cheeks and such to bring him to life a bit more.

Normal Maps

Managed to create a final low poly mesh for my Character and then, after decimating the mesh in ZBrush, baked down the high poly model.. was quite pleased with how it came out, I was expecting a lot more errors!

More ZBrush

Worked a lot more on the character in ZBrush and I'm pretty happy with him so far, I think I've managed to work on his form a bit more although he is still slightly square and blocky in his mid-section.

ZBrush!

Started sculpting my character in ZBrush today, trying to work on the muscle groups on the upper body and get some more of the form right before I move on.

Back to Body Modelling

Time to make some progress on my character for the 3D Body Modelling module, first of all I fixed up some of the topology so he was ready to start work on in ZBrush

Asset Texturing

Textured even more assets for The Day of Their Wrath ready for Lucky to throw into Unreal and finish off building the level.. Although it has been a big amount of work in a short time I've really enjoyed working on all the pieces so far!

Wrath: Extra Assets

Textured the shop fronts for TDotW, going to add some cracks on the glass to fit it in with the whole apocalyptic theme and add some names to the shops.. Also modelled some extra assets for the rooms in the tower block and a street light / spot light for spamming along the streets, which I will be texturing tomorrow!

Wrath: Street Assets

Textured the street assets last night, going to be doing some shop front textures next week. Really enjoying doing a lot of Prop & Environment Art work!

More Wrath Props

Finished making some assets to fill the streets, primarily outside the shop fronts, but some of the objects such as the fence and pole are plastered around the streets of Paris.

Shop-fronts

Recently I've been working on some shop from meshes to paste around the streets for TDotW, the meshes need texturing but I'm going to work on creating some assets to fill the streets outside these areas up first such as chairs, tables, newspaper/postcard stands, menu boards and parasols etc.

Wrath: Texturing

Started texturing all of the assets I've been modelling for TDotW over the last few days, the modular pieces have tiling textures so they can be placed together in any order. I'd like to present these in-engine in the future but here are some 3DS Max renders for now.

The Month of Their Wrath

Even more TDotW work today! Added some roof meshes as the buildings looked to bare on the top, all the assets, wall and roof meshes are now unwrapped along with the G36C.

More. Wrath.

Added two extra wall meshes containing doors, all the wall meshes are all unwrapped and ready to be textured/placed into UDK

Assets of Wrath

I've been a lot more pro-active with my role in The Day of Their Wrath and I'm really enjoying making different props, assets and modular building pieces. Currently I'm just modelling different pieces before I move onto texturing them.

Body Modelling: Base Mesh

I finished up the base mesh this week for my character, I think the topology is pretty dense in some areas but overall I'm pretty happy.. time to move into ZBrush.

3D Body Modelling

Started work on my 3D Body Modelling module this week, I've been finding it a lot more interesting that the Facial Modelling module last year and really looking forward to using ZBrush for this project.

Day of Their Assets

The group project for The Day of Their Wrath continues this year and I've been tasked with multiple different assets ranging from weapons and props to modular building pieces. The first thing I worked on was a re-work of my old G36C gun model from 1st year.

3D Modelling for Film: Video

And here's the short video with the image projected onto the geometry in 3ds Max to make for quick and easy composition.

More 3D!

Today I got to finish off the texturing and composition of my scene for '3D Modelling for Film' this is probably the most fun I've had on a project so far, the Panzer III is very close. I've just got to add a small animation to the scene and I can render it out and call it finished.

The Day of Their Wrath

We also had a group project this year where we were put into teams and tasked with creating a level from a small brief that we had been given. Our game title was 'The Day of Their Wrath' and this is a video that me and another member of the group, Alex, worked on as part of our end of semester teaser trailer..

3D For Film Progress

I've been working a lot more on my scene for '3D for Film' and I'm having a tonne of fun with it.. this is definitely the direction I want to take my art, really pleased with how this is progressing so far!

More Character Work

I finished up my head for the 3D Facial Modelling module today, I got to use ZBrush for the first time which was really fun.. definitely looking forward to using that more for future projects! I'm not completely happy with how the piece turned out but we have a 3D Body Modelling module next year so I'm going to try and improve over Christmas ready for that.

Environment Work

I've been working on some more of my 3D Modelling for Film module and I'm really enjoying it! I much prefer working on Environments than Characters so I've put a lot more time into this piece so far..

3D Facial Modelling

This week I started on another module as that hand-in is coming up quite soon. It's not something I planned on working on as I would like to aim towards Prop/Environment work rather than Character related art but this was enjoyable none-the-less.

3D Modelling for Film

One of the optional modules this year is '3D Modelling for Film'. The aim is to create a detailed scene within 3ds Max and then project an image made in photoshop onto the geometry, thus saving a lot of time and not having to unwrap every object.

Here's a couple of progress shots of what I've got so far:

Panzer III - Unreal Engine

I baked the high poly tank down to create a normal map for my game-ready version however I had a lot of problems with the normal map, especially around the tracks and wheels. I tried to remedy this by painting in extra detail in the diffuse but it doesn't quite make up for it.

Here's the tank in my Osaka UE Single Player map:

Panzer III

I made some really good progress with the Panzer III high polygon model and I'm really proud with how it's turned out, it's definitely been the most fun thing to model so far.. will be doing more of this!

Games Engines and Physics

Another module this year was 'Games Engines and Physics. The module involved creating a playable level taking advantage of kismet and player interaction. I think I went a bit beyond the brief and made quite a large puzzle based single player level.

Here are a few images from different stages throughout the level:

Modelling for Games 1B

A new year and even more to get on with! For the first 3D Modelling module we have to choose a world war tank and then take it through the industry pipeline, creating a low and high polygon model and presenting the final asset in the Unreal Engine with Diffuse, Normal and Specular Maps..

I've chosen to model the Panzer III

Shoulder Mounted Weapon

We also had to create a shoulder mounted gun for the module, this didn't have to be textured but it had to be our own design.. here was my 'attempt'. I got too involved with the G36C and didn't spend anywhere near enough time on this resulting in it being a bit of a mess.
